Wyms, a seven-year veteran
from Mississippi State, was selected in the sixth round of the 2001 draft when
current Seattle front office main men Tim Ruskell and Ruston Webster were basically
running pro personnel in Tampa. Though he’ll add to the rotation in the
wake of Marcus Tubbs’ season-ending knee injury, Wyms is known more as
a pass-rushing tackle.
Wyms was released by Tampa
Bay on September 1st as the team moved to get their roster down to the league-mandated
53 players.
In his career. Wyms has
totaled 120 tackles, 14.5 sacks and four forced fumbles. The 6’3”,
290-pound defender has played in all 16 games in a season only once –
he missed three games with an ankle injury in 2006. Still, he managed five sacks,
the second-best total in his career.
