The Seahawks' 2005 training camp ended this morning, and Les Norton was back in Cheney with the Uber-Camera for one more day. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Well here it was, the last day of Training Camp. Got there at my usual time and there were already 50 or so people there. Usually had the place to myself. Many, many folks were there for autographs and were going to be disappointed. Several of the players signed on the way out to the field this morning including Matt Hasselbeck, who signed for everyone that was there. Doug Nienhuis stopped and talked to this reporter for quite a while and gave me a pair of his practice gloves. I don't think he understands how much I will treasure them. From their size we should call him "Big Hands". Good luck, Doug. Chris Kluwe was first out the door as he has been all but one time I've been out there. Big smile on his face as usual and said good morning to the fans. I got a chance to shake his hand and wish him good luck...even though this was a Cougar fan talking to a UCLA Bruin. He's one hell of a punter and I hope they keep him. Watching Hutch and Robbie walk out together again made me wonder if I was seeing the end of an era. Will any of us get to see them together again? With Spencer in the background, I'm sure that Robbie is hearing footsteps. But he never lets on, just keeps on doing his job. For the defense this morning, there wasn't much contact. About 20 minutes of agility drills. As usual, Grant Wistrom was always first in line and did his drills at full speed ahead. Then he would stand with his hands on his hips and watch the others, as if to say,"That's how its done". I look forward to seeing him play healthy this season. The rest of the defense was very sharp during 11 on 11 drills. There was no contact...but if there had been, Lofa Tatupu would have made lots of tackles. Forget his size folks, he manages to be everywhere. Before 10 a.m they had their huddle and headed off the field. I walked over to get pictures from the other side where players sign autographs, but was surprised to see that not one had stopped. Regardless, we thank the Seattle Seahawks for having their training camp over here and allowing us to have a glimpse of our team live and in person. And for the many players that took the time to interact with the fans...We salute you!
